The studio is located in the stunning Royal William Yard in Plymouth. The Royal William Yard is an award-winning Grade 1 listed ex-naval victualling yard, which has been regenerated by Urban Splash in recent years to become the best place to work, rest and play in the South West.
The Studio itself is situated in The Cooperage building within Ocean Studio’s. I chose this specific location as the light within Ocean studio’s is just magical. I also love being surrounded my other creative individuals.
There is ample parking in the Royal William Yard and it is pay and display. Parking charges are as follows;
£2.00 for up to 2 hours £5.00 for between 2 and 5 hours £10.00 for 5 to 24 hours You can pay £2 for two hours at the machine, then top up if you want to stay another 2 hours, avoiding the £5 for 5 hours tariff, if you didn’t want to stay that long.
You can also use the app to pay for parking. The app is the Paybyphone app. All you have to do is register and create an account. Then you can pay for parking at the the Royal William Yard location: 59542.
More excitingly you can get to the studio by water. There is a daily ferry service between the Royal William Yard and Plymouth’s Barbican. The service is weather permitting and tickets are priced from £3.00 for an Adult Single and £2.00 for a Child Single (pay on board). Services from RWY to the Barbican run Monday – Sunday on the hour, every hour from 10am with the last service at 4pm, and run from the Barbican to RWY on the half hour from 10.30 am with the last service at 4.30pm. There are extended services from May to September and during summer school holidays between May and September. To view the Ferry time tables please visit Royal William Yard website.
Alternatively there is also a bus service. From the city centre you can catch the Plymouth Citybus services 34/34A – which leaves from in front of the Theatre Royal every 15 minutes (on the hour and every 15 minutes). The service takes you to the main gate of the Yard in less than 10 mins. There are also many other buses to Stonehouse Bridge (3, 21/21A, 81), which is a 10 min walk to the RWY.
Appointments and visits to Jenny South Photography are by appointment only. Please contact me if you wish to come in. Access to the studio is not a problem. There is disabled access to my studio via a lift.
