Cute little blonde-haired, blue-eyed Z joined us in the studio for wild wood adventure in Hey Dugge’s world for a wonderful bright and colourful cake smash session.
Writing blogs and adding previous session images may at times take me what feels like forever to write and upload, but it is the best way to show everyone just how much fun we can get up to in the studio, as well as inspire you to bring your little ones along for their very own cake smash shoot. Which is exactly what happened when Z’s Mummy came across the last Hey Duggee blog about the cake smash we had done for little baby R. She had fallen in love with the “Adventure Awaits” backdrop and overall theme.

When we chatted over ideas during the pre-session consultation she said that Little Z simply adores Hey duggee! Sh also wanted the session to be fun, bright, and capture his gorgeous personality! I’m learning that lots of my little guests do, so hopefully we’ll get much more use out of this theme before the next big craze comes along.
For those of you that are yet to come across this TV series….It’s based around The Squirrel Club, an activity club for children. The children take part in all kinds of activities, have adventures and earn badges for their accomplishments. It’s an animated preschool series about a clubhouse which is run by a big dog called Duggee.
I love a quote and this one always pops to the forefront of my mind when looking at this set.
“Oh the places you’ll go” – Dr. Seuss
I really like that even though I often use the same sets each time although quite similar, no two sessions are ever the same. They totally take on their own very different feel, which is obviously down to the individuality and personality of my little models. Little Z’s session felt a bit more adventurous, more like a woodland adventure. The colour pallet really brought out this little ones beautiful bright blue eyes!
Z was quite apprehensive throughout his session. He’s a little shy. That’s absolutely fine, because our shoots are really fluid. There’s no set way or rules to follow in which we have to do things, so when your little ones are feeling unsure it’s completely fine to embrace them for reassurance. It turned out that Z needed lots of cuddles from Mummy and Daddy, so that’s what he got. However, this did mean that mummy and daddy got to join in on the messy play too, and both were covered in blue and green icing by the end of the session.
As always, once the smashing up cake part of the shoot is done it’s time to fill the tub and enjoy a scrub! These images are always such a fun part too. With soft bubbles and baby giggles the session is brought to an end with a squeaky clean, and usually a little more chilled out and relaxed baby to return home with. Little Z loved his tub time, and splashed away giggling and throwing great big beaming smiles to the camera.
I always like to give a bit of a heads up with a recommendation to parents, when coming for a cake smash shoot it’s probably wise to come wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting a little messy and sticky, or bring along something spare to change into afterwards because sometimes, like baby Z’s parents discovered on theirs, it’s not just your little one who will be wearing cake by the time it’s over…..
