The Mr. Onederful theme is a fun way to celebrate your little boy and the milestone of his first birthday. Creating this session was so much fun. It felt very stylish, almost Art Deco in a way. A Monochromatic colour pallet with glistening golds.

Little C recently visited the studio to celebrate turning one in style. Rocking his cute little outfit of black nappy cover and braces with a cheeky smile, we had lots of fun and giggles throughout his session.

Sometimes the baby’s get nervous in the cake smash sessions, they’re a little apprehensive and not quite sure as to why they’re being encouraged to destroy their gorgeous birthday cake. I guess that’s logical, I mean considering one of the things we try to teach them is to “not play with their food”. That being said, Charlie didn’t hesitate and thoroughly enjoyed both the task of demolition and scoffing down the cake. I think I’d go as far as saying I think he could be the first baby thats eaten at least half of his cake during his session. He was even still eating his yummy cake in the bath tub!!

We love to support other indie businesses where possible so a big
thank you to a lovely new local cake maker extraordinaire Louise of Lulu’s. Louise recently decided to follow her dream in to the world of baking and I’m really pleased to have her on board with all our future cake smash projects. Lulu’s are available to make all kinds of baked prettiness so if you have a special occasion coming up why not go take a look at what she has to offer.

The number one cake topper made to match the theme was ordered from GlitterDrops who are Swindon based but purchased through Etsy online. Our regular cake top fairy was enjoying some family time in a far off sunny land.

This rather suave black and white theme along side little C’s name reminded me of the old school English comic actor Charlie Chaplin. Did you know he was also a filmmaker and a composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film. The Glitz and glamour of this session seemed to almost harp back to that era….

One of Charlie Chaplin’s most famous poems, one that offers a fabulous lesson on personal growth, goes like this:

“As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at exactly the right moment. So I could be calm. Today I call it ‘SELF-CONFIDENCE.’”

“As I Began to Love Myself” : A Wonderful Poem by Charlie Chaplin – If you’d like to read the rest of the poem just follow the link here, it’s seriously such a lovely and inspiring poem!

If you’ve been wondering where the craze of the cake smash comes from you’d be right in guessing… America. It’s been a big there for some time and is fast becoming really popular here too. (which I’m so glad about, as cake smashes are so much fun to create)

It’s a fun and great way to celebrate your little one’s first birthday. We can personalise your cake smash session to any theme. We’ve previously had fun designing sets for Mini and Micky fans, doing them indoors and outdoors and for lovers of the classics like Winnie the Pooh and Peter Rabbit… seriously the possibilities are endless. Why not go take a look at some of our past smashing cake clients here!

What can you expect from booking your little one in for a Cake Smash Session? Well they’ll get very messy so be prepared to wash some cake off their out fit. We can supply the outfit for most session, but if you wish to keep the outfit as a special moment, we do then ask that you provide your own. All the fun of the session is captured on camera to enjoy looking at over and over again with your loved ones… and obviously to bring back out for their other milestone birthday celebrations like their 18th perhaps…..
After they’re finished with the cake there’s a bubble bath to get them squeaky clean which is also captured on camera… I always say… our little clients go home lovely and clean after their cake smash session…. just full of cake! The splash part of the session is so much fun for your little one. Baby C loved spinning around in the tub and making squeaking noises with his tushie! The Tub time photo’s are especially good ones to bring back out for those future embarrassing opportunities.

“We shouldn’t be afraid of the unknown because, even when they wander into chaos, planets are born stars!”
-Charlie Chaplin-
