Beautiful little L joined us this weekend for a pre-celebratory cake smash ahead of her first birthday just a few days before Christmas.

As she is a little Christmas baby her mum wanted a custom theme to match this special time of year. Inspired by our seasonal set of Joyful Gathering, we collaborated ideas to create a magical winter wonderland using all of the seasonal gold elements. We adorned the winter forest branches with golden leaves and whimsical lights. It turned out to be so magical and full of festive feelings.

At the start of the season I found the most perfect little tutu which I sourced from an online pre-loved site. Covered in tiny gold stars It fitted in perfectly with L’s theme. We teamed that with a custom vest created by Lauren at Cake Smash Props. The gold leaf crown was a great find on Amazon.

Starting off the session L was a little unsure, but she soon got stuck in when we made a game of collecting up all the golden petals. She placed each one so delicately on top of her cake, it was so sweet to watch. After that she loved smashing the cake with a wooden spoon and then licking the smushed cake and icing from it!

The cake was beautifully crafted by the wonderful Lorna at Ezzie Cakes. We dreamed up a naked butter cream design with 3 layers of cake. She then added touches of gold leaf to match the set, and give it that extra special touch. To top off the theme, our creative mastermind Dani of Faithful Designs, hand crafted the majestic stag head cake topper to sit proudly on the top.

We finished the session as always with some ever so fun tub time! Our metal tin bath fitted the theme perfectly as did all the fluffy bubbles. L looked so angelic with her little golden curls splashing away in the bubbles. She giggled away as her Mummy and Daddy looked on with delight.

She was a joy to photograph, and I wish her the most magical first birthday whilst she’s away on her first holiday with her family.
