I know I say this about all my sessions but it’s true…I adored this session!!
It just all felt so very gentle, etherial and heavenly… cue Andrea Bocelli and a large choir singing Ave Maria.
Baby E was accompanied by her beautiful big sister A, she was so patient and loving with her brand new little sister. If this shoot is any sign to go by I do believe they’re going to be the best of friends when they’re older.
During my newborn sessions I obviously ask lots of questions, with the likely hood the first couple will include, “How was your pregnancy?” or “How was the birth?”. It’s always so refreshing when the answer is a positive one, because believe me I’ve heard all kinds of horror stories, funny stories and sometimes heart wrenching ones too!
Thankfully Baby E’s labour I am told was actually a really quick one and quite easy flowing, unlike her big sister before her who’s wasn’t as straight forward. This little one obviously wanted to give her mummy a gentler start with some pesky Braxton Hicks after a little morning stroll… walking around and letting gravity work it’s magic is a great way to get our little ones ready to show up!
Baby E was just 13 days new at the time of our newborn session. She was born weighing a healthy 7lb and 10oz.
A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves — a special kind of double.
Although mummy and daddy had dreamed up and discussed names that they liked, like April and Phoebe, it wasn’t until they actually met their new baby girl that they decided on what to call her.
The meaning of the name is: “Industrious, Flatterer, to Strive or Rival”.
It’s a feminine English name derived from the Latin origin name Aemilia, which is the feminine form of the Roman family name Aemilius (trying to equal or excel), a name taken from the root word aemulus, meaning ‘rival’. It’s also a form of the English, Spanish, German, Latin, Dutch, and Italian girl name Amelia in the English language. Another explanation is coming from the Greek girl name Amalia, ‘Αμαλία’, from the word aimulos (friendly, tender and kind.)
There was not as sign of rivalry between the two sisters, but a lot of love, tenderness and kindness. I loved how baby E’s big sister sung to her sweet lullabies, and read stories to her. She’s very caring which was so apparent during the entire session. She was singing to her as I wrapped her up ready for her photo’s to be taken. There were so many gentle kisses and cuddles throughout the shoot, what a pair of little angles!
People with this name tend to initiate events, to be leaders rather than followers, with powerful personalities. They tend to be focused on specific goals, experience a wealth of creative new ideas, and have the ability to implement these ideas with efficiency and determination. They tend to be courageous and sometimes aggressive. As unique, creative individuals, they tend to resent authority, and are sometimes stubborn, proud, and impatient.
I hope just like her Mummy baby E will be a creative little soul. Her Mummy is crazy talented! Her illustrations are ridiculously good. As someone who loves all kids of art I totally appreciate the creativity and skill that goes in to work like this… go on, go take a little look over on her Facebook page
For Baby E’s nursery mummy and daddy have chosen to have a bit of a rainbow theme. You know I love to play with lots of colour, so this was a great way to incorporate it in to the session. We used beautiful watercolour backdrops to bring the theme into the session, and I got to play with all our studio rainbow props too.
Throughout the session Baby E’s Daddy sat patiently watching all his girls. Her Daddy grew up in a house surrounded by females. He has 3 sisters, so should now be more than well prepared to look after his growing daughters…. I believe he may well have his hands full!
Apparently Daddy is the tidy one in the household and is always picking up after the girls because they’re all messy… I know as a creative being messy comes as part of the creative process… So I’m just guessing he will have three creative beautiful girls to love and cherish…. and tidy up after…..
